If you're a grill enthusiast, you have probably discovered the Big Green Egg grill. It's a ceramic barbecue grill you can use as a bbq grill, smoker and an outdoor oven. It is so flexible you can prepare everything from hamburgers and steaks and other standard barbeque grill foods to desserts, bread and also pizza.

I can't think of another grill that has such a following.

Now, the Egg has some shortcomings in comparison with other grills. For example, it is not a cheap barbeque grill. You could fork out around $700 to get a large Big Green Egg. In addition, you have to use lump wood charcoal, which is not always readily available and can be quite a bit more costly compared to standard charcoal briquettes. The Big Green Egg also has a smaller cooking surface area when compared with many gas grills, which means you are going to need to have a backup bbq grill if you are grilling for many people.

In spite of this, the overall flexibility of the Big Green Egg grill, the ability to grill, smoke or even bake with your Egg, as well as the awesome results you will get (the Egg is quite forgiving, even for inexperienced grillers) are worthy of the price tag.
